All members and supporters of the Uni Blues community would be in little doubt as to the impact that the COVID-19 Virus has had in recent months.
The impact to our broader Blues community is not lost on the club officials and players and we have been striving to keep up our levels of motivation with the prospect of re-engaging and getting our teams back into training and hopefully playing competitive games sometime this year. We have been working closely with the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) on the likely return to training dates and game dates and the format of the remaining season.
We were given permission by the VAFA to resume training in small groups from 1 June. This permission to resume training has been granted by the VAFA provided the club, coaches, support volunteers and players adhere to strict AFL Victoria and Sports and Recreation Victoria protocols.
This week the Under 19s will resume training. The seniors are set to resume next week with anticipation of the competition kicking off on 25 July.
The requirement to act responsibly does not just effect the players, coaches, support personnel and the committee; it extends to our family of supporters and members.
A copy of the Uni Blues Return to Training Handbook, which addresses the relevant plans for the University and the City of Melbourne is available and I would ask each person to read and acknowledge the contents and intent of the handbook and be aware of the requirements to adhere to them when attending the club.
When the VAFA announces further details around the status of the season and the relevant dates etc, we will communicate with our broader community and advise you of the relevant protocols to adhere to if attendance to games is granted.
