In line with the AFL, and as directed by the VAFA and University of Melbourne, we have suspended ALL Football Operations until at least May 31. Disappointing, but in the interests of not only Uni Blues people, but the broader community, we have a responsibility to conduct ourselves in an appropriate manner. As such, in line with the AFL’s directions, we cannot continue to train as a group until directed.
The playing group are undertaking a range of fitness, conditioning and skill based activities with Social Distancing and hygiene as major considerations. This is all designed to make us ready to take on the 2020 season when it resumes and successfully defend our title.
The fitness and conditioning activities are conducted in the open and in small groups, up to 4 people, keeping a safe distance between each of the participants. The Skill based activities are also being undertaken in pairs, no more, and the footballs being used are being disinfected before and after use.
As mentioned above, we are conducting our efforts totally within the spirit and letter of what is allowed, but aiming to place us in the best possible place when the season resumes.
Obviously if the directions from the Governments, State or Federal, or the AFL change, we will update and adjust our programs accordingly.
As mentioned above, we are currently tracking towards the commencement of the season after 31st May, however if this time frame is altered in anyway, we will adjust our activities accordingly and will advise everyone of our progress.
Sadly, we should be unfurling our 2019 flag next week, but this along with the related festivities will have to wait.
Thanks for your support and patience.
